Short film 'Reunited' shortlisted for 27th Shanghai International Film Festival
On June 2nd, the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) announced its lineup for the "Special Presentation of Short Films." Among the selections is the short film "Reunited", produced under the "Maritime Guangdong Young Director Support Program" (hereinafter referred to as the Maritime Guangdong Program) initiated by the Yangcheng Evening News Group. This marks the first time a short film from the Maritime Guangdong Program has been selected for an A-category international film festival.
Directed by the young filmmaker Paco Wen, "Reunited" is set in his hometown of Chaoshan, utilizing traditional village settings and funeral customs to weave a narrative centered on family bonds. The story unfolds as four siblings, prompted by a dream visitation from their deceased mother, come together ostensibly to care for their dementia-stricken father. Beneath the surface, each harbors personal secrets, leading to a series of comedic yet poignant events that ultimately bring them to a shared understanding. The film employs a three-act structure of "dream visitation, carp search, and revelation" to deconstruct conventional family narratives. The festival's organizing committee commented: "Director Paco Wen employs postmodern collage techniques with Chaoshan regional symbols, using a distinctive narrative style to offer a unique expression of family dynamics and the themes of life and death."

Launched in 2023 by the Yangcheng Evening News Group, the Maritime Guangdong Program is a significant talent support initiative aimed at discovering, nurturing, selecting, and training outstanding young Chinese filmmakers in China and beyond. Based in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the program seeks innovative voices in visual storytelling worldwide, supporting them in exploring various short film genres, including narrative, documentary, and animation, to present China's stories through diverse perspectives to the world. The third edition of the Maritime Guangdong Program is currently accepting applications until June 17th.

《錦鯉，錦鯉》入圍第27屆上海國(guó)際電影節(jié)
6月2日，第27屆上海國(guó)際電影節(jié)公布“優(yōu)質(zhì)短片特別展映”名單，由羊城晚報(bào)報(bào)業(yè)集團(tuán)“向山海走去”青年導(dǎo)演創(chuàng)作扶持計(jì)劃（以下簡(jiǎn)稱“山海計(jì)劃”）扶持拍攝的短片《錦鯉，錦鯉》驚喜入圍。這也是山海計(jì)劃短片首次入圍國(guó)際A類電影節(jié)。
在《錦鯉，錦鯉》中，青年導(dǎo)演溫柏高以家鄉(xiāng)潮汕的傳統(tǒng)村落和民俗葬禮為劇場(chǎng)，講述了一個(gè)關(guān)于親情的故事。片中的潮汕家庭由于故去母親的一次“托夢(mèng)”，四個(gè)子女表面上為罹患癡呆的父親協(xié)力，實(shí)則內(nèi)心各懷隱秘，最終在鬧劇中殊途同歸。影片通過“托夢(mèng)—尋鯉—揭秘”的三幕結(jié)構(gòu)，解構(gòu)了家庭題材敘事的傳統(tǒng)邏輯。上影節(jié)組委會(huì)認(rèn)為：“導(dǎo)演溫柏高將潮汕地域符號(hào)進(jìn)行后現(xiàn)代拼貼，通過別致的語言完成了對(duì)家庭和生死議題的別樣表達(dá)。”
山海計(jì)劃由羊城晚報(bào)報(bào)業(yè)集團(tuán)于2023年發(fā)起主辦，是對(duì)海內(nèi)外優(yōu)秀華人青年導(dǎo)演進(jìn)行挖掘、孵化、選拔和培養(yǎng)的大型人才扶持活動(dòng)。山海計(jì)劃立足粵港澳大灣區(qū)，面向全球?qū)ふ矣跋駝?chuàng)作領(lǐng)域的新銳力量，支持他們探索劇情、紀(jì)錄、動(dòng)畫等不同類型的短片創(chuàng)作，讓世界通過影像重新發(fā)現(xiàn)中國(guó)。第三屆山海計(jì)劃報(bào)名正在進(jìn)行中，至6月17日截止。
